Two Teaching Positions are Open:


Independent Study Teacher for High School

La Vida charter School wishes to a hire a credentialed teacher to mentor and manage the educational programs of a dozen high school students for about 18 hours per week.  Applicants should be comfortable with personalizing curriculum to support the learning pathways of their students.

Hours are flexible.  The school uses an online report writing program for making assignments and contracts.  Applicants should be comfortable with education technology.  The school will train new hires  until they are proficient with the program.

3rd-4th Class Teacher and Homestudy Manager

La Vida Charter School wishes to hire a teacher who is comfortable wearing many hats. This position includes three main areas.  The first is teaching a two day Waldorf Inspired enhancement class to mixed grade class of 3rd and 4th graders; plus teaching a specialty nature science class, primarily out in the field for three classes encompassing grades 1-8; and thirdly meeting with parents and managing the homestudy program for your 3rd and 4th graders, 15 students.

Desirable candidates will bring love and excitement about their work as well as bring excellent organizational skills, personal accountability standards, possess digital literacy, and abilities to engage and motivate students, collaborate with colleagues and parents.  Desirable Candidates will also be aware of and excited about the new Common Core State Standards as well as should have a working knowledge of the philosophies of Rudolf Steiner

La Vida Charter School offers a unique program of independent study supported by a child centered, culturally rich Waldorf inspired on-site classes two days per week.  Founded in 2001, WASC accredited, serving grades K through 12, with a maximum enrollment of 120, La Vida functions as a small school alternative for residents of Mendocino County and surrounding areas.  The school is located on the beautiful and historic Ridgewood Ranch, Home of Seabiscuit , between Willits and Ukiah on Hwy 101.    

Qualifications:
  •        Minimum requirements are California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential .
  •        Experience in independent study and/or Waldorf Methods.
  •        Science expertise is desirable.

Skills:
  •      Demonstrated success in creating a differentiated instructional program.
  •      Willingness to further professional development in Waldorf Methods and other educational techniques.
  •      Ability to collaborate with colleagues.
  •      Possess strong personal accountability standards.
  •      Ability to take direction and promote philosophies of the school.
  •      Interest in working in a school community with strong parent involvement.
  •      Embraces and is proficient in educational technology.

Details:
High School Teacher Part time, .52 FTE, starting at approximately $17,700 annual salary. Grades 3-4 Teacher80 FTE   with annual part time salary starting at  $27500 Benefits at 20 hours per week include a Health Expense Benefit,  STRS retirement, and a flexible time structure. Starts  with a  full faculty in-service week of Aug 18.  Parent-student orientation week of  Aug.25  with the first day of school September 2.
